March, 2005 Meeting: Greg Lipps, Ohio Herp Conservation

The March program will feature Greg Lipps, who is the lead "amphibian guru" (I know he has a better title than that) for the ODNR division of wildlife.
Greg will be talking about various threatened and endangered herps throughout the state of Ohio, why these animals are in trouble, and what is being done about it.
This promises to be an especially exciting program, because Greg will be discussing ways that folks like us can assist in conservation of Ohio's herps! BE SURE TO MAKE THIS ONE! March will be the perfect month for this program, as the "amphibian season" will be close at hand.
MEET THE SPEAKER:
Growing up, Greg Lipps worked at his family's pet store, (Delhi Pet Center) and became a member of the GCHS at an early age. From there, Greg, or "Boo" as we affectionly call him, went to work with Jim Harrison at the Kentucky Reptile Zoo, and then as a full-time keeper at the Toledo Zoo, caring for such animals as hellbenders,Komodos, endangered Wyoming toads and even tuataras!
Today Greg is "the man" for amphibians in the state of of Ohio, and also works with endangered Ohio reptiles such as massasaugas.
We are proud to see many former and current members of the GCHS in important herpetology careers. Greg is a great example of where the young members of today's GCHS can end up if their interests in herps are encouraged.
