Speaker Presentation for the Holiday Meeting:
Grady Calhoun / Dean Alessandrini 2006 GCHS Conservation Projects
2006 has been the most productive year in some time (perhaps ever) for the GCHS. We will review (with lots of photos!) the various programs that began in 2006, many of which are still in progress. Among others, we'll discuss the surveys at the Cincinnati Nature Center and Grand Valley, Dupont Salamander Habitat preservation, and our contributions to worthwhile causes from the Martin Memorial Fund. The success of our programs should give us hope that we can make a difference. We hope more members will get active!
During a field survery outing at the Cincinnati Nature Center, Mike Graziano (GCHS member) holds a Green Frog while Grady Calhoun (GCHS president) snaps a few photos.
During a survey, GCHS members watched this large male snapping turtle take a break from breeding activity to take a quick gulp of air
